One of my goals this year for my teachers is to truly allow our students to become global learners. Through all my travels this summer and instructional research I have not found a better tool than Twitter.
It's time to make Tweachers out of my teachers.
As a part of our back to school staff development, my teachers will come prepared with a new Twitter account set up and ready to go. In the week prior to staff development, I'm planning on sending them explicit instructions along with the following resources to guide them.

10 Steps for Educators New to Twitter
What are my goals for my teachers?
1) Establish a PLN through the use of Twitter feeds
2) Learn to use Twitter as an global instructional tool
3) Enter the world of Social Media
I have allotted an entire day of our staff development week to be completely dedicated to technology. While I know technology is no longer an add-on, but a vestibule for instruction, there must be time dedicated to instructing teachers the ins and outs. If they are not given time to use the technological devices and learn them, they'll never use them in the classroom. It's easy as an administrator to put the "cart before the horse" and just dive it. But what truly makes successful implementation is gently nudging your staff while providing a safe and supportive environment.
Slow and steady wins the race....and the Tweachers.
Is a PLN the same thing as a PLT?
