Fighting Stagnation

How do you fight being stagnant as a leader...as a school...in the education system as a whole?

One must look past the norm, the medocrity, and begin pushing the boundaries. Boundaries are all around us, in our profesional goals, in your own thoughts.

I have recently began reading the book, Drive, by Dan Pink. And boy is it pushing my boundaries and forcing me to think beyond the walls around me. I'm already planning a separate blog post on Drive, but first, it's got me thinking about those darn boundaries and our stagnation as educators.

One way to fight stagnation is to push ourselves beyond our normal limits. I believe that a true goal is not a goal unless it is outside your comfort zone. Much of the principles in Drive are outside most everyone's comfort zone. Maybe that's why I'm enjoying reading it so much.

I'm being pushed. And being pushed is the best prevention against stagnation.
