Moving Forward: Online Book Study

One of the major challenges of my campus is the lack of technology. We are lacking both infrastructure and instructional knowledge. However, we are making strides.

My plan of attack has been to get the teachers using technology first. By increasing their comfort level, they are able to then share it with their students. At least, that's my plan.

I am happy to report that I've seen some forward progress this week. One project I have undertaken is creating an online book study for a group of teachers. Our district using Moodle as an online network for creating forums, web pages, blogs, etc. At first I was concerned, but found it to be very user friendly. I felt at ease using it with my teachers.

I spent some time with our district instructional specialist learning all the ins and outs of creating an online book study. I loved it!!

Once it was all set up, I sent my teachers the directions and hoped for the best. In just a few days, I saw the first comment posted! I was thrilled! Then a day or two later, there were more comments.

Finally! We have online collaboration occurring between teachers within the building!

I couldn't be more thrilled. Absolutely thrilled. Well, maybe I'll do some back flips once one of these ladies creates an online book study for their class.
